LA VOODOO JAZZ BAND
Founded in Barcelona in 2018, the Voodoo Jazz Band is rooted in the New Orleans and Swing styles of the first half of the 20th century. Their core focus is authenticity in sound, harmonies, and arrangements, while maintaining a distinct personality of their own. Both the project's name and concept are inspired by the magical-religious traditions of New Orleans, brought by enslaved people during the African diaspora and integrated into the popular culture of the American South.
The group brings together five musicians with extensive careers in the genre: Ugnė Danielė Reikalaitė (Balkumbia) on vocals and guitar; Naná Rovira (Parminter) on clarinet; Oriol González (The Hanfris Quartet) on washboard and drums; Oscar Font (La Locomotora Negra) on trombone; and Henrique Mendonça (Los Boozan Dukes) on tuba.
Combining their diverse backgrounds, they form a seamless lineup whose warmth and synergy effortlessly transport the audience into a vibrant atmosphere packed with the true essence of New Orleans Hot Jazz.
